World War l (WWl) was a big war. It started in 1914.

Allies: Great Britain, France, Italy, Russia, Romania, Serbia, Greece, United States

One side was the Allies. The Allies had soldiers from many countries.

Central Powers: Germany, Austria- Hungry, Bulgaria, Turkey

The other side was the Central Powers. They also had soldiers from many countries.

World War l started when the Archduke of Austria-Hungry was murdered.

Woodrow Wilson was the president of the United States during WWl. At first the U.S. was not in the war.

The Lusitania sunk.

Then, the Central Powers shot the Lusitania. It was a U.S. ship. President Wilson was mad! The U.S. went to war. They were Allies.

Soldiers fought from trenches. Trenches were ditches.

The Allies won. The leaders signed the Treaty of Versailles. It was a paper that said the war was over.

World War l lasted 4 years. It ended in 1918. Many soldiers were hurt or died.
