ANIME ROUND-UP

Romantic Comedies Yes, I’m excited for Nisekoi so I won’t include it on this list of fantastic romantic comedies which deliver laughs, love, cringe-worthy ‘I’m so in love’ awkwardness, and underpants. Lots and lots of underpants. 5 Haganai Birds of a feather really do flock together when social outcasts Yozora and Kodoka create the “Neighbour Club” in the hopes of finding other, like-minded misfits. Add the bright and bubbly Sena and you’ve got a recipe for unexpected friendship. 4 The World God Only Knows Keima, a dating-sim champion, learns that real-life love is built on more than levelling up relationships and boss-level gift giving. Of course, the assistance of a gorgeous demon- hunter doesn’t hurt either. 3 My Teen Romantic Comedy Snafu Simple anime maths means that 1 stoic beauty + 1 bubbly gorgeous gal + 1 self- involved jerk = burned cookies and awkward admissions of love. 2 Heaven’s Lost Property Some series try to mask their perversion; Heaven’s Lost Property owns it and hilarity ensues when Tomoki literally gets his hands on a wish granting android. 1 Ouran High School Host Club Almost an inverted version of the usual harem sub-genre, Ouran sees Haruhi, a girl, indebted to the all-male Ouran High School Host Club. What could possibly go wrong? Here’s a hint: everything.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica The Movie: Rebellion

I’m excited for Nisekoi - False Love: Part 1 would be an understatement. The heirs to separate yakuza families find themselves in quite a pickle when they’re forced to profess their (false) love for one another. This is among the best examples of the ‘harem’ genre, with a bounty of laughs, mystery and romance. In D-Frag - The Complete Series , Kenji and co. start off thinking that they’re the real deal: troublemakers of the highest order. That is until they meet their match in the form of the slightly-unhinged and exceptionally violent ladies from the Game-Making Club. You’ll need to be over 18 for this saucy little number: Freezing Vibration Collection is the follow-on from the original series, with just as much awesome action (and overt fanservice) as you could possibly desire. Maybe even more. He’s back! HE’S BACK! Monkey Punch’s

A part from Sailor Moon, only one title springs to mind when talking about the magical girl genre, Puella Magi Madoka Magica . This month sees the release of Puella Magi Madoka Magica The Movie: Rebellion which acts as a sequel to what is without a doubt one of the more beautifully animated, impactful and downright messed up franchises in anime. [And a mouthful of a title - Ed] If you like your anime spunky (God I hate that word), Love Live! School Idol Project: Season 1 is singing your song! If your school announced its pending closure, surely the only way to save it would be to create interest via the inception of a ... ahem... spunky... idol group, right? Grab the collector’s edition for game codes and exclusive trading cards. The whole premise of Nobunaga the Fool: Part 1 is

insane but just insane enough to be fantastic. After the world is literally broken in two, Nobunaga Oda is sought out by Joan of Arc to unite the Eastern Star with the assistance of Leonardo Da Vinci’s creations. Of course, they could have just called upon King Arthur but he was busy uniting the Western Star. See? Insane. Being a big fan of the manga series, to say

and Godzilla: Final Wars fame, this is undoubtedly live-action awesomeness for anime fans.

Also hitting shelves this month is the final volume of Kill la Kill (Volume 5) as well as shonen stalwarts One Piece Collection 31 and Naruto Shippuden Collection 22 .
