In 2013, CO 2 emissions from UK offshore oil and gas production contributed three per cent of the total domestic 2 emissions 27 . It is important to consider that the exploration, production and transportation of offshore oil and gas account for a small percentage of the overall life cycle GHG emissions – approximately nine per cent for oil 28 and 16 per cent for gas 29 .
