Predicted Environmental Concentration – the expected concentration of a material in the environment, taking into account the amount initially present in the environment, its distribution and rates of natural or forced degradation and removal. Pose Little Or NO Risk – used by OSPAR to classify substances used and discharged offshore Predicted No Effect Concentration – the concentration below which exposure to a substance is not expected to adversely impact the surrounding environment. Water that comes to the surface with hydrocarbons during production, either naturally from the reservoir or after injection into the reservoir to displace oil and lift it to the surface. The process by which some waste streams, such as produced water and drill cuttings, can be pumped back into the reservoir or to deep rock strata, respectively.
