SAFETY UPDATE Unit and Station Security

The Safety Office has learned of some recent events that serve as a reminder for all of us. Within the last several weeks we have had one attempt at an ambulance getting stolen from a hospital and evidence of homeless sleeping against the wall behind one of our stations. Above all, your safety is priority and security of our stations, equipment and belongings is a must. As a friendly reminder, please:

 ALWAYS lock the ambulance when the vehicle is unattended. This does not include the scene of roadside calls, where the crew is in immediate proximity. It does include calls to residences and buildings in which the crew is inside a structure.

 ALWAYS keep the station doors and windows locked and secured.

 ALWAYS ensure closure of the bay door at all times.

If it is discovered that any part of an ATCEMS station, facility, or unit, its contents or grounds have been damaged, stolen or vandalized, you must notify your commander or supervisor immediately.

There is no way to determine how many times you all have deterred a possible incident; so thank you for all your continued efforts.
