Associació Pro Nins

SUPPORTING CHILDREN FOR 30 YEARS // UNTERSTÜTZUNG VON KINDERN SEIT 30 JAHREN 30 AÑOS APOYANDO A LOS NIÑOS

ES Es probablemente la mejor vacuna que la naturaleza haya creado jamás. La leche mater- na no es milagrosa, pero está científicamente demostrado que es el alimento ideal para los recién nacidos a los que ayuda a prevenir el riesgo de muerte prematura, les dota de anticuerpos para combatir todo tipo de virus e infecciones, ayuda a su desarrollo intelectual, reduce secuelas neurológicas en los neonatos prematuros y les previene de alergias, entre sus muchos beneficios. La Associació Pro Nins trabaja en la promoción y fomento de la lactancia materna desde 2001, labor en la que cuenta con la colaboración de RIU. La cadena hotelera lleva colaborando con el Dr. Verd y la asociación desde hace 30 años, consiguiendo entre otros logros, la creación del primer banco de leche materna en España a través del “Banc de Sang i Teixits de les Illes Balears”. A este le seguiría el banco de leche de Barcelona. La red de bancos se completaría con la apertura de cinco más, repartidos por todo el territorio español. La asistencia a niños y niñas con discapacidad intelectual es otra de las labores en las que RIU colabora con la Associació Pro Nins, a través de las entidades Mater Misericordiae, Centre Joan XXIII y Asociación Síndrome X Frágil de Baleares. La primera de ellas presta servicios a personas con cualquier tipo de discapacidad, sea cual sea su edad, así como apoyo a sus familias. El Centre Joan XXIII, por su parte, está especializado en alumnos con discapacidad intelectual y con afecciones aso- ciadas, mientras que la Asociación Síndrome X Frágil de Baleares se centra en personas afectadas por el síndrome del cromosoma X Frágil, también conocido como síndrome de Martin-Bell, y considerado como la primera causa de discapacidad intelectual heredada.

Breast milk is not a miracle cure but it has been scientifically proven that it’s the ideal way to feed newborn babies, helping prevent the risk of premature death, providing themwith antibodies that combat all sorts of viruses and infections, stimu- lating intellectual development, reducing neurological problems in premature babies, and preventing allergies, as well as a whole range of other benefits. The Associació Pro Nins was formed in 2001 to promote and support breastfeeding, and is supported by RIU, which has been work- ing with Dr Verd and the association for 30 years. One of the biggest achievements has been the creation of Spain’s first breast milk bank, “Banc de Sang i Teixits de les Illes Balears”, which will be followed by the Barcelona milk bank. The network will be complemented with five more banks distrib- uted throughout Spain. this time in partnership with Associació Pro Nins, through the three organisations Mater Misericordiae, Centre Joan XXIII and Asociación Síndrome X Frágil de Baleares. The first provides services to people with all sorts of disabilities, regardless of their age, together with support for their families. The second specialises in school children with intellectual disabilities and associated disorders, and the third focuses on people affected by Fragile X syndrome, also known as Martin–Bell syndrome, the number one cause of hereditary intellectual disabilities. Helping children with intellectual disabilities is another cause to which RIU contributes,

DE Muttermilch ist wahrscheinlich der beste Impfstoff, den die Natur jemals geschaffen hat. Sie ist kein Wundermittel, doch es ist wissen- schaftlich erwiesen, dass sie für Neugeborene das ideale Nahrungsmittel darstellt. Mutter- milch hilft, dem Risiko eines vorzeitigen Todes vorzubeugen, überträgt Antikörper gegen alle Arten von Viren und Infektionen, unterstützt die intellektuelle Entwicklung, reduziert bei Frühgeborenen neurologische Folgeschäden, schützt vor Allergien und hat noch viele weite- re positive Effekte. Die „Associació Pro Nins“ leistet seit 2001 einen Beitrag zur Förderung und Unterstützung des Stillens und kann hierbei auf die Mitarbeit von RIU zählen. Die Hotelkette arbeitet seit 30 Jah- ren mit Dr. Verd und der Vereinigung zusam- men. Unter anderemwurde während dieser Zeit mit der „Banc de Sang i Teixits de les Illes Balears” die erste Muttermilchbank Spaniens gegründet. Auf diese folgte die Milchbank in Barcelona. Durch die Eröffnung fünf weiterer Banken wurde das Netz vervollständigt. Die Unterstützung von Jungen und Mädchen mit geistiger Behinderung ist ein weiterer Be- reich, in dem RIU mit der „Associació Pro Nins“ zusammenarbeitet. Sie fördern die Organi- sationen „Mater Misericordiae“, „Centre Joan XXIII“ und die „Asociación Síndrome X Frágil“ auf den Balearen. Erstere hilft behinderten Menschen aller Altersgruppen, egal welcher Art ihre Behinderung ist, und unterstützt deren Familien. Das „Centre Joan XXIII“ hingegen ist auf Schüler mit geistiger Behinderung und damit verbundenen Krankheiten spezialisiert, während die „Asociación Síndrome X Frágil Baleares“ sich umMenschen mit dem Fragiles- X-Syndrom kümmert, das auch als Martin- Bell-Syndrom bezeichnet und als häufigste Ursache für erbliche kognitive Behinderungen angesehen wird.
