Taking color inspiration fromeach light-filled room in this spacious Tudor home, the decor is loaded with whimsy, sentimental treasures, and new finds. "My Christmas decorations continue to evolve and everything is stored in plastic bins by color. Every year, I am hoping to find something new and different that will get me excited to pull out all the stuff and put up the trees," Heidi says. It's evident how much joy she finds in the creative process. With endless sources and expert tips garnered from a lifetime of collecting, her enthusiasm is infectious. For the living and family rooms, seven-foot faux trees sit on tabletops for a dramatic effect. "I can't remember why I decided to try fake trees one year, but I am now a convert," chuckles Heidi. The other is a riot of corals, pinks, yellow, oranges, and a tiny bit of pale blue for what she calls the "more is more, Cindy Lou Who, sugarplum-y, loaded look" reminiscent of the gorgeous, unrestrained, and very personal trees of her childhood memories. Design advice includes using more lights than you think you need with different size bulbs and colors as you wrap deep into the trunk for that sparkling, dazzling effect. "I don't worry too much about the wires showing because all of the decorations will hide them," she explains. Next comes lots of different glass and glittered garland, swagged and overlapping, and oversized balls placed throughout the tree including up high and at the very tips of branches. Layering in your own mix of favorite ornaments in assorted shapes and sizes is what brings personality
