1986-87 NCAATOURNAMENTTEAM

Head Coach Hank Egan directed USO to adrogram-best 24-6 over– all recor as the Toreros made their second appearance in the post-season. Senior center Scott Thompson led the team in scoring (15.9 ppg) and rebounding (7.4 rpg) on his way to being named the wee Player of the Year. The Toreros led the nation in field goal percentage defense (.401 ), finished 13-1 in league, and also won 14 straight games during the year. Senior starters Nils Mad– den (11.1), Mark Manor (10.5) and Paul Leonard (10.2) also averaged double figures in a well balanced attack. In the first round of the NCAA Tournament in Indianapo– lis, Indiana, the Toreros dropped a heart-breaking 62-61 decision to Auburn University.
