SUPER RAFFLE

on the club right up until Covid- 19 struck this past March. When talking to Phil’s daughter, Sandra, and son-in-law, Clinton this past Sunday they told me one of the hardest things Phil ever did was back away from his responsibili- ties in the club. Phil was 96 years young this past spring 2020. Phil will forever be missed by all of that knew him and learned from him how to be a supporter of our sport over the years. For me personally, I will miss him greatly as he was a wealth of information about the history of the club. He also had insight how best to han- dle situations that came along. I took over many of his past “jobs” and was glad that I did as it made me a better club member and more importantly a better person for learning how to do them from watching him. THANK YOU, my Friend! ~ Nick Bailey Central Aroostook S.C.

I regret to inform MSA that Philip “Phil” Kinney, a loyal and faithful supporter of snowmo- biling in Maine, has passed away this week. Phil’s name is on records for the Central Aroostook Snowmobile Club as far back as records can be found in the early 1980s when the club first started. He held the posi- tion of Treasurer for at least 15 years and was a Director for many years as well. Phil was one of our greatest members for raising funds and selling Super Raffle Tickets and was instrumental in the rais- ing of funds for our first large Sur- Trac groomer. He led the charge when it came time for a groomer A credit memo is issued from the MSA office for several reasons. 1. Someone sent in a membership to your club using the clipping from the newspaper. 2. Someone called the office and asked to get a membership and paid with a credit card. In each of these cases the MSA accepts the $15 dollars for MSA portion and issues a credit memo to the club for the balance of the transaction. 3. There was a miscalculation on the transmittal form. Why is a club issued a credit memo? ASK THE OFFICE

building to store our groomers in. Phil sought out contributions to help with the groomer building’s costs and got volunteers to help work on the building. The build- ing was later named in honor of Phil for all his hard work both on trails and helping make this much needed building a reality. Phil also oversaw the clubhouse rentals and made sure it was clean after the renters left for the next people that came along. Many of these duties Phil had to let go over the past 5-10 years first due to the need to care for Eva, his wife and then eventually due to him having his own health issues. Phil was still attending meetings and checking

I sent in my Officer Update Form but the MSA has the wrong information.

What happened to the page numbers? A lot of things look different in this Newspaper.

When an officer update form is received at the MSA office, there are three things we do with it. 1. Stamp it with the date received. 2. Enter or Update the infor- mation in the Snowmobile Program database. 3. File the paper copy in a club folder in the filing cabinet.

One of the biggest issues we find is that the person holding the officer position listed on the form is not a current year member. It is very important that your officers have actually had their dues card sent to the MSA office and entered. The second issue we have is when a spouse fills an officer position but is not the individ- ual listed on any dues card.

As you may already be aware, we have some new people in our key roles at the Maine Snowmobile Association. We are also working closely with a new graphic designer to breath some new life and creativity into “The Maine Snowmobiler”. Among other changes, notice the new page footers now have the page number in the black snowmobile with text in the

banner trailing behind the snowmobile. If you have any problems with any of the new formatting or you would like to make any constructive sug- gestions, please don’t hesitate to contact us with them. We are always happy to consider your ideas and suggestions.
