The Tobacco Commission has invested in workforce training programs that have awarded thousands of valua- ble certifications and credentials. These ensure that the tobacco region has the workforce it needs to fill both the jobs available now and the jobs of the future. Attracting and retaining talented individuals is equally Important. We recently launched our Talent Attraction Program (TAP) that will pay up to $12,000 per year of student loan debt for citizens who live in the region, get civically engaged, and work in a set of in-demand fields. The Commission has made job creation, workforce training, and education a priority over the last 20 years and will continue to do so as we move forward with our mission to revitalize the economies of Southern and Southwest Virginia.
