2006 – May Distance Learning Coordinator’s Association Tuesday, May 2, 2006 Minutes

A meeting of the Distance Learning Coordinator’s Association was held on Tuesday, May 2, 2006 at the State Board for Junior and Community Colleges building in Jackson, MS.

CALL TO ORDER. Andrea Scott called the meeting to order at 10:01 am.

II. The minutes from the association meeting on April 4, 2006 were approved as presented. III. New Business

a. Audra Kimble discussed consortium issues i. Blackboard

1. Ms. Kimble strongly recommended that instructors archive courses as soon as possible. Send any problems with archiving to Ms. Kimble no later than May 10th. 2. Oversight Committee met with Blackboard in Washington D.C. for two days. The committee was very pleased with the outcome of the meeting. 3. Oversight committee agreed to adopt the Blackboard Content System. 4. MSVCC is one of the top five as far as usage of the platform. In order to have a more reliable and robust system, MSVCC will contract with BB to implement a complex hosting system along with the content system. 5. Training Onsite training will be provided this summer. More details will follow. MSVCC will pay for approximately 20 instructors through the Blackboard Certified Online Course.
