Unfinished Business a. DLC Community Site – Tish asked if someone in this group could take charge of the community site. We pull information from this site on a routine basis. Jennifer asked if there is a community that should be responsible for updating this information. Jennifer Newell suggested that this be placed under support. Julia Parker volunteered to keep the information in the content collection. Julia will work with Terry to keep this information updated. New Business a. Meeting Structure – Jennifer Leimer – One of the biggest changes is that we will specify a time for BB/D2L issues and/or administration. The time will be blocked out. Today it was this morning before the DLC meeting. In the future we would like to do this in the afternoon. If you have Bb admin they can attend during a certain time. Binders are a second change. We want this information to be provided at each meeting and updated on a regularly basis What do you want? Can you think of something that will make it work more efficiently or effectively. We sent out the agenda earlier this week for items to be added beforehand. We would like to provide this information ahead of time so that we can keep on a structured schedule. Phyllis said that we should also add a Q&A session to each agenda. Alicia said that we should the President’s are looking for ways to save money. They will be looking at ways to consolidate meetings and also do programs such as Wimba, etc. Audra suggested every other month. We’ll need to look at what materials we need to cover because there may be meetings we need to work together in a group. A lot of this may be determined by the agenda. We also talked about the possibility of traveling throughout the state to attend meetings. Don’t necessarily feel that this is good idea. Maybe we can look at the option of moving bootcamp. b. D2L Update – Jennifer Leimer – updated to 8.3 in May. You will need to have Internet Explorer 7 or Mozilla Firefox in order to access courses in Desire2Learn. Their user conference is coming up July 23 rd in Memphis, TN. We have provided you with several handouts. (1) DLCs Guide to Getting Started (2) Users Management (3) Course Mangement handout. Used screenshots of each of the tools that you may need to do for those students who need assistance. This is done from the DLCs point of view, not an instructors point of view. Depending on the amount of time given during the bootcamp, we will go through some of these tasks. You will probably use the user management most of all. Usernames and passwords – use old naming scheme for the fall semester. If we have updates, we will make sure that you have those. c. Blackboard: Manual Users in GUI – Terry Pollard – Tabled SBCJC Business – Christian Pruett and Terry Pollard a. Presidium Updates – Terry Pollard. Christian said that Terry has done a great job on working with Presidium. It took several months but the respondus and wimba have been signed by us. We are hoping to move forward with an August 1 st purchase. Respondus don’t have a formal visitor campus training program, but Christian has asked that he provide us some training on respondus. Wimba will come and meet with the IT folks for rollout. Will pilot through the fall until we are completely up and going. Don’t want to rush too quickly. Training and support is excellent with wimba. Stacey, Usha, Roger are now our contacts. Wade is busy working with
