MELA Meeting Minutes 2003 - 2017

published at a later date by the committee chair. Jennifer Leimer asked if Terry has the exact URL to get to the support site from a student’s perspective. We are unable to get that address from the Bb page, which is not correct. The web address is http://d2.parature.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=4523 . We are glad to have access to the folders for us to update the folders for FAQs. Jennifer Newell asked if we would have access to other peoples folders for information so that we do not reinvent the wheel. Leimer asked if we could get more training on ticketing as well as the knowledge base or is this just knowledge base training? The ticketing structure is a little confusing on how we need to proceed with certain tickets. Newell gets a lot of tickets from NW. They are willing to do more training on both systems. Webinars are on schedule and he may be willing to travel for us. b. Wimba Rollout – Terry Pollard (training) and Christian Pruett (contract) – Would like to provide our students with the next generation course. Begin identifying ten faculty who are looking to use Wimba in the fall semester. Voice Tools Training, Wimba Classroom training. If they go to those sites, they register, they will email Terry that Jane/John Doe has completed training. Recommendation is to mandate the training on each campus. If you can verify that some of them have already piloting the program, you can make it available to those people. To form a campus plan, work with the campus/deans with the professional roadmap training plan. Terry also brought conference materials for the committee to view. That information was available for each person to review. Recommendations for interested faculty. Lab policy considerations. How will you develop lab polices for listening to audio and verbalization in labs. Best practices and pushing for the 2.0 online course environment. Support mechanism. Spring 2009 courses will include the Wimba dropdown. Leimer asked if those piloting will keep their current login information, will that stay the same. Training will need to be completed for each component before that information will be available to those faculty. Once verification between DLC and SBCJC has occurred, that will become available for those users. c. Respondus Updates – Christian Pruett (contract and training) – see notes from A. E-Learning Training Business – Terry Pollard a. ELT association update – felt there was a need to collaborate instructional designed, trainer, or DLC to come together and share what we use at each college. There are currently six people on this organization and we are hoping to have 6-8 screen casts before for the end of the summer. The site will launch at the end of July. We will have to password protect these documents and we are working on that. Sharon Hudson is working on shrinking the sizes of the Bb manuals/handouts. XI. Future Meetings – Asked if anyone was opposed to the meeting dates. Tish said that if we know in advance, she can reserve one of the rooms here at the Holmes campus. Please let us know if those dates do not work. a. Thursday, August 7 th , Holmes Ridgeland X.
