MELA Meeting Minutes 2003 - 2017

evaluation remain in the instructor role. The last request was to add the List MSVCC Proctor Exam to the DLC roll and to add a prefix dropdown menu for quick reference. b. Jennifer Leimer will also be completing future Enrollment Tool requests for the switching the Duplication and Modify Course buttons. When building courses, if you click enter on the keyboard it automatically forwards to the course duplication screen. We would like for it to automatically modify when clicking enter. She would also like to discuss the possibility of switching the instructor/faculty user ID from Social Security Numbers to college identification numbers. Currently we are unable to enter school IDs without leading zeros. Christian stated that you have to also understand that we share faculty members and they would have different ID numbers for each college in which they teach. That is why the SSNs are still being used. Jennifer Powell recommended that those faculty use different accounts for the different schools. Christian added that if the instructors use two different accounts that they cannot use the same password for both accounts. This causes several problems with the Enrollment Tool. Instructors should also not use password as their account password. New Business a. Wimba Regional Training Conference Call – Scott Smith. Wimba currently has software in development with Blackboard that will allow us to take the Bb server and reach out to multiple Wimba servers. Currently all of MSVCC is connected to one Wimba server. This bridge is designed to allow institutions with significant Wimba usage to hit additional servers. This bridge will be setup at the end of November. As soon as it is setup Wimba will conduct the necessary testing. They hope to have this ready by January 1, 2009. It is a very fast turnaround time for moving institutions from the original server to another server. You will not see any intermittent downtime. At this time ICC, NWMCC, JCJC, and Holmes foresee increased usage. MGCCC and MCC will likely mandate usage in future terms. Those schools are planning a roll out over the next few semesters.
