already paid for the online students. Audra emphasized that traditional instructors must use Canvas correctly by inputting due dates, assignments, and zeros for assignments not submitted by the due date in order for the AspireEDU algorithm to work.
e. USM – Background Checks (Audra Kimble)
i. USM is renewing their contract with the MSVCC. They are currently in the process of revising the memorandum of agreement. The HR person at USM is questioning the July 2013 Felon Law – which states that instructors couldn’t be hired as a state employee with a felony on their record. Audra stated that each college should be in compliance with the State Bill, and each instructor is considered to be a state employee. In conclusion, USM’s attorney will contact the State Board attorney. f. PTSS - Proctored Test Scheduling System (Audra Kimble) i. Smarter Proctoring is a scheduling system that integrates with Canvas. The proctoring software partners with Register Blast, Be Virtual, and ProctorU. The Proctoring Subcommittee will be attending a webinar tomorrow to learn more. They will also be presenting at Boot Camp. i. Two new online courses will be facilitated in the Fall 2014 Academy. Action teams have looked over the courses, and edits are being made. ii. The first Academy newsletter went out. Spotlight article for Northwest will be next. Look for an e-mail regarding the spotlight article for your college. iii. 1-2 weeks after the TEO class is complete, completers will be e-mailed out to ELCs. h. Zendesk Report (Beverlin Givens) i. Beverlin passed out a chart of Zendesk activity for March, April, May, and June. ii. Enrollment Status Change – Keri suggested that these e-mails be sent from a “Do Not Reply” e-mail account, since it is creating a ticket each time a student responds. 1. Audra passed out everyone’s Fall assessment that will go to each individual institution’s finance division. These are pre-audit numbers. Each college has verified these numbers. Electronic documents shared today will be sent to those attending through BB Collaborate. ii. Available Funding for Innovative Ideas 1. Audra stated that there is money available if your college has an innovative idea that you would like to see implemented, but need the funding to do it. Evidence-based innovative ideas should be sent to Audra. 1. Audra presented to Presidents at their last Legislative Workshop. The US Department of Education has decided to hold off on authorization to receive Title 4 funds. State Authorization is still on the state’s radar; however, there is no rush for authorization since the legislation has decided not to implement. iii. SARA Update g. Academy Update (Akiah Givens) i.
