4. Mr. Smith asked association members to send comments or additions to the comparison chart he presented. 5. Association members expressed a desire to obtain more D2L training from within the association. The date has yet to be determined for such training. 6. Mr. Pugh reminded the association that 63 seats will be made available in D2L to each institution for the fall. If seats are not going to be used, please contact Mr. Pugh. Fictitious students and instructors must be counted in the 63 seat limit. 7. Association members discussed clumsiness of imports from Bb into D2L, but relative ease of redesigning course. Mr. Smith agreed to Include tips on importing at training session.

B. Data Entry on the Enrollment Tool

1.Mr. Pugh suggested that association members talk with registrars/counselors and remind them to include only names in the student information form during registration—no spaces, special characters, suffixes. Double names can be put together without the hyphen.

C. Course Archives

1.Mr. Burnette showed association members the new feature of archiving courses that are not being taught in a particular term. Archived courses will appear in red and will appear in an archived course list. Mr. Blackburn requested that archived courses be removed from the course lists when archived. Mr. Burnette will make the change. 2.In addition, Mr. Burnette will set the count of course offerings to show only active courses.

D. Course Evaluation

1.Mrs. McCrimon led a discussion about what colleges do for course evaluation. a. Mr. Smith stated that at MGCCC local course evaluations go through department chairs and the academic dean. b. Mr. Smith continued that MGCCC evaluates away course evaluations by using a form to look at course detail and course evaluations. The process begins in Distance Learning then goes to the respective department and dean. Once the course is approved, the form comes back to Distance Learning. MGCCC evaluates away courses annually mostly looking for content (objective) equivalence. c. When all evaluations have been completed at MGCCC, Distance Learning sends a memo to the Chief Academic Officer stating that evaluations have been completed. I remember that others made comments about course evaluations, but I can’t remember exactly who said what d. Association members discussed the feasibility of not evaluating away courses that have already been evaluated by a DLC. e. Mr. Pugh stated that the Dean’s Association will need to revisit the policy for approving courses and possibly defining course competencies in the uniform course numbering system.
