Withdrawal Policy – Jackie Bailey-Hall Ms. Hall asked if during add/drop students are withdrawn or actually dropped. Ms. McCrimon and Mr. Smith both stated that it’s an individual school policy as to how they are withdrawn. Ms. Kimble stated that students were confused by being told different procedures by instructors at different colleges. Ms. Shows stated that the student should contact the school where they registered to find out what their policy is. Ms. Givens said that SBCJC would leave the enrollment tool open through Friday for cleanups. Laura Lofton asked how between college communication went as far as withdrawals. Mr. Yates and Ms. McCrimon stated that students should go to their instructor or the registrar (whatever the college policy is) and request the withdrawal…but communication should stay between DLCs. Ms. Kimble suggested that we implement a statewide withdrawal policy. Most thought that we would meet resistance with a statewide policy. C. Textbook Policy – Alicia Shows asked how policy was being implemented. Ms. Richards and Ms. Lofton stated that their pilot testing with MBS was not successful. Jerry Acee? Total Card? Wrote a program to request books online through local college bookstore. Mr. Smith said he would like to see a field added for bookstore phone numbers in msvcc…or have Ive autopopulate this number into course detail. Mr. Smith mentioned that the MGCCC bookstore manager has considered purchasing Visa checkcards for students to use to purchase their books if not from bookstore, Ms. Shows suggested that instructors not change books after pre-registration. Members stated that this would be a problem since pre-registration starts in early spring and many book change approvals are done over the summer. Ms. Shows Course requirements that are not listed in course detail are causing problems. Mr. Yates suggested that we set up bb to allow guest access to course information with syllabus info for students to have before registering….Most agreed that the best place to have this is in course offerings since this is what it is designed for. Proctor exam info needs to be listed under methods of evaluation since test info is not listed. Mr. Smith requested of Beverlin that the prerequisite item should be listed. Special requirements should be listed under comments or in textbook information as Other. DLCs should update course information this semester to ensure that required items and special are included. Ms. Lofton asked if bookstores issue refunds to students who register for “ghost” classes. Most said yes with receipt. Mr. Smith said that the reason bookstore managers were handed the policy for dealing with textbooks is because Unfinished business
