Open Forum

a. August Meeting (Kim Harris) i.

Kim Harris will send a survey by email to get feedback regarding our August meeting date.

b. Instructional Technology Committee – Upswing (Haley Duck) i.

The Instructional Technology Committee reviewed a product called Upswing, which is a company that offers online tutoring services similar to NetTutor. The contract with NetTutor will expire July 2019, so the committee is exploring different product options. ii. Upswing integrates within Canvas, has a centralized database that tracks all of the student’s learning activity and feedback, offers 350 subjects, 24/7 service, professional tutors, and can work with local tutors in our local success centers (as an option for students to schedule with). The local tutor feature can also cross through the consortium. iii. Upswing provides each institution with a campus ambassador to promote the product to students. A “HERO” is assigned to each campus to help Admins and Faculty with training. iv. Haley’s committee viewed a demo and was impressed with the product and had positive feedback. v. Buffy Matthews commented that Upswing must be Sole Sourced in order to replace NetTutor. Haley wasn’t sure if the product was sole-sourced, but will find out and report to the group. Much input was given regarding SmarterServices (SmarterProctoring and RegisterBlast). The biggest topics covered at the meeting were: 1. SmarterProctoring -- removing inactive students. 2. RegisterBlast -- the ability to cancel all future appointments. 3. Many other topics were covered. Jennifer James will send out a document to the group this week with detailed notes from the meeting. ii. Leslie Grill is no longer at the company. Kim Harris is not sure if a SmarterServices replacement will at the Retreat or not.

c. Update regarding statewide proctor meeting (Jennifer James) i.

d. Officer Transitions (Buffy Matthews) i.

In August 2017 positions will transition.

ii. Haley Duck will serve as secretary. Christa Wilhite will step in as needed to take minutes while Haley is on maternity leave. Congratulations to Haley!
