MCCB – Krista LeBrun

1. Partnership Monthly Calls a. More partners are wanting to join in on our monthly calls to keep the group informed about their products. Krista sent out a link from Chris Bergeron at Link-Systems, and will also be forwarding a meeting link from Allynda at Turnitin. 2. Canvas Followup a. There has been a decline in the participation in the monthly Canvas calls, and Casey Sato is concerned. Krista highly encouraged that each college have at least one representative from their college present at the monthly call. 3. InstructureCon Follow-Up a. At InstructureCon, Krista was notified that 40 of the top Canvas community members were invited to Utah for a workshop to look at feature requests, BETA testing, etc. She was very surprised that no one from Mississippi was invited. Krista expressed to Canvas that our MELA group may not be as present in the Canvas community, because we use each other as resources. i. Casey Sato, our CSM, will be asking colleges to volunteer in the Gradebook BETA testing, and will provide more information on that soon. b. Quizzes.next is having a slow roll-out. There is not a release date set yet. c. Krista encouraged the group to submit proposals to present at InstructureCon. 4. RFP Information a. Zoom was the awarded vendor, after the very lengthy process. b. It is a breach of contract to talk to Zoom until the contract has been finalized. Finalization is anticipated for the first of September. Each college should talk to their IT departments, because the integration will need them involved. c. The ‘Proof of Concept’ will last one semester. If Zoom is not fully functional amongst our colleges, the award will go to the second vendor who is much more expensive. d. Training will be provided by Zoom. e. September 30 th – BB Collaborate will officially expire. We will lose all recorded content, so instructors will need to export (as .mp4) any recorded sessions they want to keep. f. We still have the Zoom pilot, so instructors can use it for the upcoming Fall semester. Keep in mind that the live conferences have restrictions on time (40-minute time limit) and participants. 5. Change in MCCB Staff a. As of August 10, Chris Ryals will be resigning as the eLearning Technical Specialist at MCCB. Because of medical issues, he will be returning to East Central Community College, which is closer to home. b. Shalon Farris will move into Chris’ roll, and will be shadowing him over the next week. There will not be a loss of service or support; however, colleges should be patient with the transition. There will not be a replacement for Shalon’s current position until the end of September.
