Managed by the Parks and Recreation Department and located within Lake Kennedy Community Park, the Freida B. Smith Special PopulationsCenter offersavarietyofprogramsforadultsandchildren with intellectual disabilities. The mission of Special Populations is to promote independence through exposure, education, experience and encouragement in a safe, caring environment.

(60+ yrs) • Lake Kennedy Center • 4thMonday of EachMonth Eligible seniors receive kits containing nutritious, easy-to-prepare food including canned fruits and vegetables, canned protein and other food each month. When possible, fresh produce, frozen meats, dairy, bread and deli items are also included. Friendship Centers Dining Program (60+yrs) • LakeKennedyCenter • Monday-Friday, 9:00am-1:00pm Open to adults age 60+ who are looking for a healthy and nutritious hot meal in a clean, safe and friendly environment. Adonation of $3 per meal is suggested to help cover the cost of the meals, however, anyone is welcome to a hearty meal regardless of their ability to pay. All contributions help to provide meals for older adults in the communities we serve. ————————————————————————————————————————————————————— Harry Chapin Care & Share Senior Feeding Campaign Presented by Cape Coral Local #2424 Professional Fire Fighters, the Fraternal Order of Police Cape Coral Lodge 33, and Cape Coral I.U.P.A.T. Local #2301 to benefit Special Populations, this is much more than a round of golf! Includes continental breakfast, cash bar, fabulous buffet, plus you'll be changing lives by supporting our neighbors with intellectual and physical disabilities. They meet the second Tuesday of the month (excluding July, August &December) at 6:30 pmat the Freida B. SmithCenter and are always looking for newmembers. You do not need to have a participant in the program to join this support group. Be aVolunteer! Are you looking to get involved&meet newpeople? Become a volunteerwith Lake Kennedy Center or another facility. Application and fingerprints are required. The Cape Coral Mini-Bus program has been providing high-quality door to door transport service for transportation disadvantaged Cape Coral residents since 1987. All drivers carry commercial licenses andare certified inCPR. Theprogramis especiallydesigned for seniors and disabled persons who are unable to drive or utilize public transportation, and do not live with relatives who are able drive. Transportation services must be scheduled a minimum of 72 hours in advance and are geared for medical appointments and weekly shopping excursions within Cape Coral.
