polyethylene (PE) as well as vinyls, to cover the growing needs of Russian users. Pipelife has been operating for over 5 years in the Russian market through its sales office in Moscow. Mr Miguel Kohlmann, the CEO of Pipelife commented, “Pipelife has a leading position in the markets of eastern Europe. The start-up of the new Russian factory highlights the commitment the group has to Eastern Europe and specifically to its largest market Russia.” The Pipelife Group is a 50/50 joint venture between Wienerberger, the Austrian construction materials manufacturer, and Solvay. It is one of Europe’s leading plastic pipe and fittings groups. A simplified coupling solution

Saint-Gobain Pipelines, UK, has launched a new range of couplings and flange adaptors designed to simplify and reduce stockholding for merchants and contractors. The Ultra NG coupling solution offers one of the widest ranges of tolerances available. The range replaces both the Ultra and Maxi couplings. Product manager, Mr Richard Morecroft, explained, “ To date, the Maxi has been the most popular choice in the UK market but there are some limitations on tolerances when jointing differing materials at the same nominal diameter. By virtue of the very wide tolerance, the Ultra NG is designed to joint all materials for a given diameter. “ With a diameter tolerance up to 30mm, the Ultra NG reduces stockholding to just one size for any given nominal diameter. Compared with other more complex ranges, where there is a choice of low or high tolerance products, the Ultra NG offers a much simpler solution. Even if you don’t know the precise OD of the pipe, the Ultra NG is more likely to fit because of its larger tolerance. This is particularly useful when jointing to existing PVC pipework where circumferential expansion resulting from internal pressures means precise diameters cannot be predicted. ” Suitable for ductile and cast iron, steel, PVC and asbestos cement pipes, the lightweight UltraLink NG couplings and UltraQuick NG flange adaptors are pre-assembled for quick and easy installation. Available in a range from DN40 to DN300, the unique dynamic radial compression gasket sealing process eliminates post-installation re-tightening.

Offering one of the highest angular deflections available, they are rated to 16 bar working pressure, and are fully compliant to BS EN 14525. Saint-Gobain Pipelines – UK Fax : +44 115 932 9513 Website : www.saint-gobain-pipelines.co.uk

Pipelife starts fittings production in new Russian factory

Pipelife, Solvay’s affiliate for pipe and fittings, has started operating a new factory located 130km southwest of Moscow, in the middle of one of Europe’s fastest growing economies. Pipelife will produce a full range of plastic pipe systems for water distribution and sewage networks. The factory will offer the most advanced products in polypropylene (PP),

Pipe couplings for Russian WTW modernisation Fittings from Viking Johnson, UK, are being used to help bring international quality standards to one of the Russian Federation’s largest water treatment works. FlexLock and UltraGrip couplings are being supplied for connecting filtration pipework in St Petersburg’s northern water treatment works. The patented FlexLock range of self-anchoring pipe couplings and flange adapters is ideal for above-ground applications (using ductile iron or steel pipes). They are available in sizes from DN50 (2") up to DN300 (12") and for pressure ratings of DN50 to DN200 (16 bar) and DN250 to DN300 (10 bar). UltraGrip pipe couplings, flange adaptors, pecatadaptors and end caps are supplied with unique grippers that offer full end restraint. Both products are protected against corrosion and handling damage by a coating of Rilsan Nylon 11, which meets WIS 4-52-01 (Part 1) performance standards.
