The company’s strip joiners are designed to provide fast and reliable automated joining of steel coils, and are built with ample engineering safety factors and precision-machined components. Covering a range from 30mm to 1,010mm wide and 0.3mm to 16mm thick metal strip, the joiners offer convenient solutions to numerous tube manufacturing applications. The main line of automatic machines (GG) is provided with control of strip end position, feed into the clamps, trim of strip ends, weld cycle, bead milling, and release. Almost all functions are automated and integrated in the machine PLC. Machine layout simplifies weld inspection by the operator, and all strip joiners are designed to withstand years of use in the most demanding applications, with minimal maintenance. Mill speed can depend on the ability to store strip in order to feed a constantly running tube mill during the stop required for joining of coil ends. Although speed and accumulation capacity are essential parameters to measure an accumulator, quality materials also require careful strip handling. Oto produces space-saving vertical accumulators, including free-loop types and the FBS range of machines for soft handling of light gauges, and a complete line of horizontal accumulators to satisfy very large capacity requirements. Oto’s tube mills are available with wide range, depth and choice of components, such as driven or side idle stands. The company also manufactures quick-change systems, including the RTC (rapid tool change) mill and the sophisticated high precision machine for applications requiring exact control of mechanical components, setting repeatability and automatic process control. The company’s range of tube mills covers the production of tubes from 10mm to 219mm diameter. Full integration with other tube mill components, special designs, accessories and safety features are also available. Oto also offers a range of more than twenty different models of flying cut-off, including heavy-duty friction saw cut-offs, cold saw cut-offs for tubes from 4mm to 220mm diameter, double shear cut-offs, rotary double cold saw cut-offs for stainless steel tubes up to 168mm diameter, shear cut- offs, and machines for special profiles.

The machines are designed to achieve higher cutting speed using all currently available cold saw blades (HSS, coated, TCT, etc). Most current and customised software can be used, enabling setting and recording of all key cutting and statistical parameters.
