Amongst this work, Nat has spent the last couple of years building and fitting-out much of the new Britomart, and inventing the City Works Depot. When designing a fireplace into a building, you should be aware of the implications your choice of technology has on the building envelope, air supply and installation requirements. Grant will discuss different fireplace types and apply them to a real world example. SPEAKER Mark Cowden | Escea Mark Cowden, has worked in a variety of design related industries over a considerable number of years. As a member of senior the management team at fireplace manufacturer Escea, one of his key roles is involvement with the new product development team. Mark’s key focus is ensuring that all new products integrate into the building process as simply as possible, while at the same time delivering the ultimate fireplace experience for the end user. Mark was one of the key drivers behind the setting up of Escea’s architectural advisory service whose stated role is simply: to make the planning and specifying of fireplaces as easy as possible. He works alongside a team of technical specialists who are there to offer advice on which fireplace is best suited for a specific situation in terms of aesthetics, performance and function. A previous career working with people in the outdoors provided Matthew with an appreciation for the natural environment and how we interact with it.
