In the heart of northern Maine, Aroos took County offers some of the most pris tine and expansive snowmobiling in the Northeast, thanks to its well-groomed ITS (Interconnected Trail System) net work. Stretching for hundreds of miles, these trails weave through rolling potato fields, quiet pine forests, and along fro zen rivers, creating a winter wonderland for riders of all skill levels. Known locally as “The County,” Aroostook boasts reli able snowfall and a welcoming snowmo bile culture, with small towns and trail side lodges ready to fuel both sleds and spirits. Whether you’re chasing the thrill of speed across wide-open stretches or
pausing to take in a pink-and-gold sun set over the St. John Valley, Aroostook’s ITS trails deliver an unforgettable win ter adventure. The Border Trail, a scenic route paralleling the Canadian border (New Brunswick), with granite border markers, farmland, and history (includ ing a stop in Limestone where Loring Air Force Base stands as an interesting relic) along the way. ITS 88, about 50 miles fol lowing the banks of the Aroostook River between Fort Fairfield and Ashland. On clear days, riders traveling toward Ash land can catch views of Katahdin in the distance.
