And we , who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, wh i ch c ome s f r om t he Lo rd , who i s t he Sp i r i t .” (2 Corinthians 3:9-18) Jesus’ words beckon even today, pleading for interior change; so ask this question [and be honest with yourself]: has mankind changed? Is the world changed for the better? Have most risen to a great spiritual height in order to comprehend? Do you have a deep trust in the Father and do you know the son of whom Jesus made continual reference? Or do you think as most of the world thinks. Is Jesus the son [seed of Abraham] in this time or the Father? In the epistle of Galatian we are cautioned, it reads; “ If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise. What I am saying is that as long as the heir is a child, he is no different from a slave, although he owns the whole estate. He is subject to guardians and trustees until the time set by his father. So also, when we were children, we were in slavery under the basic principles of the world. But when the time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under law, to redeem those under law, that we might receive the full rights of sons. Because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, ‘Abba , and Father.’ So you are no longer a slave, but a son and since you are a son, God has made you also an heir. Formerly, when you did not know God, you were slaves to those who by nature are not gods. But now that you know God—or rather are known by God— how is it that you are turning back to those weak and miserable principles? Do you wish to be enslaved by them all over again?” (Galatians 3: 3-29, 4: 1-8) His words endure forever, and He spoke to those who were spiritually connected at that time, of whom there were only a few. The leaders of that day who were incorrectly called teachers, did not hear; when they heard the truth they were appalled. Despite Jesus’ efforts, they did not change or submit to the truth; the conditions of their minds offered only rebellion, and because of the hardness of their hearts and they would not relent. The Hebrews desired dominance over them; they expected and demanded an earthly king, a king of the Jews! They desired strength through dominance, and if Jesus was to be accepted, He was expected to conform to their demands. This is precisely why Judas betrayed Jesus, when handing Him over to the Roman soldiers. He thought that nothing could or would withstand the power of the most high; Jesus would overpower the Romans as a good zealot would be expected to do.
