We are now in the process of a national speaking tour on the issue and getting union affiliations from local and regional areas. We would like to do a significant national event, perhaps in a very large football stadium in 2019. So in a short space of time we have gained new, very significant support to get Ocalan and therefore with him the whole Kurdish people and the region out of the jail; a prison of sectarian violence, imperialism and tyranny. Ocalan’s release will be the liberation of the region and a blow to reactionaries everywhere. No national liberation movement has ever prospered without a strong internationalist view. This is because progress for the people of one nation represents progress for people of all nations. Freedom for Ocalan for example means greater freedom for the people of Palestine and for the people of Europe dominated by the neoliberal agenda of the corporations and banks. In the long march to freedom ignited a hundred years ago there has been savage and brutal counter attacks on our efforts, Nazism was unleashed against the Soviet Union, then the United States took up the sword creating terror throughout the world and the unholy wars for oil, or against any progressive country whether Cuba, North Korea, Venezuela, or China today. No Empire ever lasts for ever whether it is the European Union which the British people have now indicated they want to be free from, or British imperialism in its special relationship with the US through NATO. But dying beasts lash out unmercifully as we see in so many places, Turkey destroying Kurdish towns and villages, Saudi Arabia starving children in the Yemen, the illegal occupation of Palestinian homelands. Recent wars have been waged in the Middle East against countries seeking an alternative path outside of the deathly grip of the US and fundamentalism, wars have been waged against Palestine, Iraq,
