real storm, hopefully its all snow and no rain! Lets all do the drop and snow dance so the lakes freeze and we get piles of snow, without a deep freeze and solid lakes the trails will be closed. If you also read the Maine Sportsman mag azine, they had an article incorrectly stating that the Jefferson SnoPackers would be host ing ice drags and radar runs in Feb 2023. We are not doing any events this season period; we do not have the resources. With this coming snowstorm, we probably will not be doing any more trail clearing, it is what it is so be prepared to meet down trees in the trails. Again, with just a few die-hard members doing all the work we just cannot clear all trails. We really need local residents who enjoy the outdoors to get involved with the club and volunteer some time to help with trail maintenance. A quick reminder, it is time to renew MSA memberships and registers sleds, please con sider joining your local club which also pro vides your MSA membership. Also anyone who lives in Jefferson or the surrounding community and would like to get involved with their local club are more than welcome to come and join us. We meet the first Tues day every month at the Jefferson Fire Station at 6:00 pm. We are a small contingency of active members and ust a few more would all us to do a better job at trail maintenance. As always you can find us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/SnoPackers and give us a LIKE! nizing a very fun filled evening full of guess ing games, circle gift surprises, bountiful buf fet of food and lots of desserts for everyone. Club members have been putting up sig nage most weekends but the outhouse at the log cabin got a much-needed makeover in December with a new window and siding. Lunch was provided to the helpful volunteers. Thanks to all who helped with this project, much appreciated. Hope to see everyone at One Mile and on the trails real soon! Club Reporter, Joel Verney

often using their own equipment. Your mem bership helps tremendously with expenses, but we need bodies out on the trails keeping them maintained. That leads me to thank all the guys, gals, and kids who have helped keep our trails in great condition. It’s always an adventure to head out on Sunday mornings to see what bridge needs improvement, what trails need to be widened, how many trees are down, talk to landowners, etc. We’re also extremely fortunate to have a few farmers and landscapers in the club who will show up with heavy equipment when needed. You can’t put a price tag on having an experienced operator in the seat. Our Trail Master, Pete Fournier, has been busy researching side-by-sides and we found the one to meet our needs. We’ll be purchas ing a 2023 Polaris Ranger XP 1000 North Star Edition with a track kit from Abbott’s Power Equipment in Waterboro. This will allow us to do trail work during warmer months, then put the tracks on for the winter for grooming. It’s the biggest single equipment purchase in the club’s history. I also have to give a shout out to Nick Donilon and Pete Eukitis for resurrecting an old trail in Dayton to add about four miles to our trail system. That trail will connect to the Lyman trail system and give us an additional loop in the circuit and also get us to another gas station. That’s about it for now, except for snow. As I am writing this, I’m looking at bare ground, so let’s all think snow!! Cheers Doug Doherty, President

along mid-coast Maine. Ponds and streams are freezing and the first of the snow has started. Hope everyone enjoyed a Very Merry Holiday Season! Our club was thrilled to see we had a win ning ticket in the MSA drawing, there cer tainly were lots of tickets tumbling around in that big tub! Our annual Christmas Party was held on December 1, eggnog and the little Christmas Tree greeted 29 members who were in atten dance. Ken and Estelle made the trek all the way from Madison with a truck load of good ies for club members! The Entertainment Committee did another fantastic job of orga
