December Beacon

Renee and I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! We look forward to our upcoming traditions as a time to spend quality time with family and friends. Thanksgiving dinner with a 36 pound turkey cooked the traditional way in the oven along with a 13 pound deep fried turkey at the McEvoy house, then off on Sunday for our annual trek to Applegate, MI to cut our own Christmas tree with a stop along the way in Lexington for a Whimpie burger and some penny candy from the General Store. Then the ABYA ball on December 7 th , Christmas caroling cruise, a trip to the movie theatre to see The Hobbit part II, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Years Eve to close out the year. We all seem to stay as busy as ever.

As an follow up to my previous articles this year, I wanted to update everyone on the current Lake St. Clair level. As you can see from the chart below, lake levels in Lake St. Clair continue to be higher than last year.

Lakes Superior and Michigan-Huron are 12 and 13 inches, respectively, above their levels of a year ago. Lakes St. Clair , Erie, and Ontario are 11 , 6, and 12 inches, respectively, above what they were at this time last year . Over the next month, the Lakes Superior and Michigan-Huron are forecasted to decline 3 and 2 inches, respectively. The levels of Lakes St. Clair, Erie and Ontario are predicted to each fall 2, 2, and 3 inches, respectively, during the next 30 days. Winter is fast approaching and as that white stuff starts falling, just remember we still need to have large snow amounts particularly up north to keep our lake levels on the rise. I enjoyed representing the club as Rear Commodore this year, and I am looking forward to a great year in 2014.
