Call for young speakers The Institute of Water is offering young professionals from the water industry the opportunity to take centre stage at its annual conference, titled ‘2012 – Changing the Industry for a Sustainable Legacy’, to be held at The Royal Society in London on 17 and 18 May 2012.

The young speaker chosen for this session will talk about their experience of change within the industry or what the changing demands on the industry mean for them and their career/company. The second young speaker will be given the opportunity to speak alongside lead Defra director for water policy in England, Sonia Phippard, and CEO of Anglian Water, Peter Simpson. Both speakers will be challenging the audience to think about water, and the value of water to society, in a new way. They will be talking at a strategic level on how to change hearts and minds inside companies and in communities so that behaviour changes. The young speaker selected for this session will give their opinion on this strategy, highlighting their own experiences or their views on significant water projects.

Pipe with premium connections at Yurkharovskoye Field

Oil and gas steel pipe producer TMK has run casing with its PF premium connections in both the onshore and offshore sections of a gas well at Novatek’s Yurkharovskoye Field. This well consists of both a vertical section, which is located in the onshore zone, and a horizontal section that is located offshore. TMK is the first Russian pipe company to run a string in this type of well. The total depth of the run was 5,602m; the horizontal section was 2,740m. During the run there we no deviations from the
