This tube forming system makes use of the most modern technologies which allow to vary the diameter of the produced tube without roll change. It is a unique compact system covering the complete tube forming, from breakdown to fin-pass stations, achieving a final and almost complete joining of the tube edges. The greatest flexibility, the fastest automatic change of tube size and the extreme reduction of roll costs are the major advantages assured by this new system. The Linear Cage Forming system is applied to the production of round tubes and square/rectangular tubes. ROLL Machining Technologies and Solutions (RMTS) has just started its 11 th year in business manufacturing roll tooling for the tube, pipe, roll form and slitting industries. The principals of the company have over 100 years of experience and expertise in these industries. The company’s 24,000ft 2 manu- facturing facility is located in Romeoville, Illinois, 30 miles southwest of Chicago. capability of turning up to 38" OD rolls. The company also has various machine shop machines, including presses, drills, surface grinders, inspection equipment, Bridgeport milling machine, and a band saw for cutting D2 and spacer stock. RMTS also has two 24 pass, rafted try-out roll formers in-house for testing profile roll tooling. Its engineering department uses stress and strain analysis and FEA from Europe and Korea to assist in optimising designs.

The company has the latest technology in the slitter blade industry, and claims that its blades hold their edge longer, and resist cracking and galling. They are designed exclusively for high volume/speed slitters, and all of the blades are re-surfaced with ceramics on the company’s turning centres. CEO Joe Olson developed a roll manufacturing process that RMTS calls the ‘Super Roll’. The company says that, thanks to its methods of specifying the right material, heat treat process, CNC turning and using EDM keyways, the Super Roll can double the footage throughput on a tube mill before requiring rework.
