At the time that this report was written, I am pleased to announce that the Buxton Police Department is at full staff, nine (9) sworn. As always, we appreciate all the support we have received fromour citizens this past year.Your understanding of the restrictions and controls put into place during this pandemic was immeasurable.

During 2020, Buxton officers responded on or self-initiated 9,628 calls, an increase of 1.78% from 2019. Given that a significant amount of 2019 was impacted by COVID 19, the fact that the department saw an increase in call volume is indicative of the future growth in demand for services. Officers issued over 500 traffic citations, issued 190 criminal/civil summonses, and affected 124 arrests.
