Need to Order a Replacement Pool Pump Motor? Choose correctly. When replacing a pool pump or motor it is important to make sure that you are replacing your old product with a pump or motor of equal output. Otherwise, you will realize reduced flow rates and turnover cycles. Pumps and motors are sized based on the total output of the pump/motor. The total output is a function of the horsepower and the service factor. The horsepower is listed on the motor nameplate as HP. The service factor is listed on the motor nameplate as SF. The total horsepower (output) is equal to the horsepower (HP) multiplied by the service factor (SF). To get a replacement pump/motor that will work properly make sure to order using both the horsepower and service factor.
