''Friendship, Enthusiasm and Spirit!"

I n 1872 Alpha Phi was founded at Syracuse University in New York "to uphold the highest ideals of woman– hood, scholarship, and service and perpet– uate the spirit of sisterly love and kind– ness". The Eta Rho Chapter was founded here at USD in 1989 to strive to uphold these goals and high ideals of womanhood. In the three years since its founding, Al– pha Phi has continued to grow and pros– per. This year 38 beautiful pledges partici– pated in the first deferred rush which was

their philanthropic activities. This year they organized the 1st Annual A-Phi Open Golf Tournament as a fundraiser to bene– fit Cardiac Aide. Other Fundraisers in– cluded the teeter-toter-a-thon, lollipop sales, mistletoe sales and Valentine sales. Alpha Phi's success have not gone unno– ticed this year. The Eta Rho Chapter has received a Scholarship Program Award and the Outstanding Chapter Advising Award from Alpha Phi International!

a great success. Alpha Phi's spirit was re– presented at Homecoming with Senior At– tendant Doreen Bubonovich. Other social involvements for the sorority included ex– changes with fraternities at USD and oth– er Universities, the Bordeaux Ball, Winter Theme Formal, Date Dashes and the end of the year Senior Sailout. Sisterhood events like Founder's DAy and the Chap– ter Retreat rounded off the year to close friendships, enthusiasm and spirit.
