run around Kanto battling other trainers, some allowances must be made for those making their first foray into the Pokémon series proper with this entry. Catching in this game works slightly differently, in that you’ll be catching wild Pokémon not by fighting them with Pokémon of your own, but by feeding them berries as you would in Pokémon GO . You’ll also be able to see Pokémon in the long grass ahead of you, as opposed to bumping into them in random encounters. It’s an interesting choice, but a nice way to ease new players into the series. If you’re one of the few dedicated souls out there still playing Pokémon GO , it might be worth investing in a copy of Pokémon Let’s Go for the Switch. Any Gen 1 Pokémon you catch in GO can be transferred into Let’s GO to use in-game – great if you need some extra help with a particularly annoying battle. However, diehard fans of the Pokémon JRPGs, worry not. Pokémon Lets Go, Eevee/ Pikachu isn’t meant to replace the main line of dedicated Pokémon RPGs. There are still a couple of games tentatively dated for late next year, so if this hasn’t quite scratched your itch, there’s plenty more to come.

Blasting off again!

Kanto! Original Pokémon fans will be delighted to hear that this new Pokémon game is a sort of remake of Pokémon Yellow , which also means it’ll include the original 151 Pokémon, Team Rocket, and Professor Oak. As with previous Pokémon games course, you’ll be able to travel with either Pikachu or Eevee dependent on your chosen version, and some Pokémon will only appear in each version of the game – meaning if you want to complete your Pokédex, you’ll have to find someone with the other game and trade. Though it is a ‘remake’ of Yellow , some of the Pokémon released in ‘pairs’, each version will be slightly different from the other. Of

With the release of the two new games also comes a new controller: the Poké Ball Plus. Sold separately to the main game, this controller is – you guessed it – shaped just like a Poké Ball, and can be used to control the whole game – not just catching new monsters. You ‘throw’ it like you would a Poké Ball, and there are buttons that function as A and B so you can play the whole game with just that controller – it’s not just a gimmick used for catching. You can also store Pokémon on the Poké Ball Plus (similar to the Pokéwalkers of old), and they’ll function similarly to the PoGo Plus devices used for Pokémon GO .

You’ll be able to run into Alolan forms of some of the first generation Pokémon, and the three starters – Charmander, Bulbasaur, and Squirtle – will all be able to mega evolve.
