with all pupils at Newcastle NS learning to play the ukulele as part of their musical education. This year, pupils from 3rd and 4th Class had the exciting opportunity to attend the Galway Ukulele Orchestra, hosted and organised by Music Generation Galway County. Held at Leisureland and supported by Galway and Roscommon Education and Training Board, the event brought together more than 400 students from 10 schools across Galway County for a spectacular musical gathering. The young performers rehearsed, played and experienced the excitement of performing as part of a large orchestra. The event also provided an excellent opportunity for Musician Educators and school staff to connect and celebrate a year of music-making in schools throughout the county. The day proved to be an inspiring and enjoyable experience for everyone involved and reflected the school’s continued commitment to creativity, confidence and participation in the arts.
