The exhibition, located on the upper floor of Athenry Castle, features a series of interpretive storyboards explaining the events of the period. It also includes a remarkable three-metre commemorative banner listing the names of more than 750 men and women from County Galway who participated in the Rising and related activities centred on Athenry. For many local families, the banner provides a direct connection to relatives whose contributions helped shape Irish history. It stands as a lasting tribute to the commitment and sacrifice of the people of East The next major project undertaken by the group was the revival of the local magazine Athenry News & Views. For more than forty years, the publication documented the life of the town, recording events, achievements and community stories. Although publication ceased in 2019, its extensive archive remains an invaluable record of local history. To ensure its long-term sustainability, the decision was made to publish the magazine in an environmentally friendly digital format, free of charge and accessible worldwide. All editions are available at athenryexperience.ie/ news and can be accessed through a direct web link or by using the widely distributed QR codes.
