171221 Ruritan Annual Report

Chair JoAnn presented 3 resolutions from the committee.  Resolution I: A resolution of gratitude and appreciation to Convention Committees, Speakers, Entertainers, Facilities and Ruritan Volunteers.  Resolution II: A resolution of gratitude and appreciation to the National Board Members, National Foundation Trustees and National Administrators.  Resolution III: A resolution of gratitude and appreciation to the United States Armed Forces’ Members and their families. Each resolution, after being read, was adopted by unanimous voice vote and was given a standing ovation where prescribed by the resolution. Copies of these resolutions are on file in the National Office. The Chair called upon Convention Bylaws Committee Chair, David Thompson for a report. David thanked his committee members, Linward Hedgspeth and Jonathan Lafollette, for their help during the convention. He reported his committee received delegates during the time and place specified in the program. Comments and questions centered around the bylaws amendments which are before the delegates of this convention. The Chair called upon the members of the Growth, Development and Retention committee to come to the stage to present the overall WANTED contest winners:  Brent Wheeler – 2195 - Kash – District - 24 - Georgia-North Alabama o won one (1) free registration and two (2) nights stay for Hampton in 2019.  Carlene Eby – 641 – Kauffmans – District - 10 - Potomac o won one (1) free registration for Hampton in 2019.  John Taylor – 260 – Clifford – District - 5 - Peaks of Otter o won one (1) flat screen TV. The Chair called upon Mike Morrison, Chair of the Youth Committee to assist him with committee’s prize drawing. Earl Smith – 1402 – Grand Junction – District – 26 – Hermitage, won the drawing and promptly donated the $580.00 cash prize back to the Youth Committee. The Chair called upon President Elect Guy Cox and 2019 Convention Co-Chair, Joe Pancionne, to give a report on the 2019 Ruritan National Convention in Hampton, VA. Special Awards President Danny and National Director George Brothers presented a Ruritan Forever Membership to Tina Brothers. 1999 President, Rick Poff, presented, on behalf of the New River District, a Tom Downing Fellowship to 2017 Ruritan National Foundation President, Pat Davis.
