I will soon depart Texas for the annual Chapter Leadership Summit at Quantico. This is an annual event that brings chapter leaders back to the NA for several days. It will be good seeing all of the attendees from across this great nation…and beyond. May all attendees enjoy safe travels, arrive thirsty for knowledge and depart full of great ideas for the betterment of their chapters and all graduates, both past and future!
Speaking of family ties, I recently read about a father/twin sons grouping of NA graduates. All three of them are employed by the Indiana State Police. Jerry Williams led the way by attend ing NA Session 253. Twin sons Ronneal and Roosevelt, graduates of the NA Sessions 292 and 296 respectively. And there is one more son in the pipeline. Earl is the police chief of New Chicago, Ind., and proud father Jerry reports Earl is hoping to apply to the NA in the “next year or so.” Stay tuned to see if he eventually makes it to four NA graduates from one family. When I first started writing this article I was enjoying some R&R along the coast of Southern California. I have since relo cated to the woods of northeast Texas, joining members of Session 226 for their annual hog slayer pilgrimage. This is the 19th time members of that session have traveled to the countryside near Cleveland, Texas, to help Duke Atkins thin the wild hog herd to manageable levels. Participants include graduates of Session 226 from Texas, Oregon, Pennsylvania, New York, Wisconsin and Kentucky…and invited guests from Kansas and New Jersey. The wild hogs are doing a good job staying out of our crosshairs but a few were harvested. What we all miss out in the harvest we more than make up in the social interactions! My thanks again to Duke for allowing this Session 215 guy the opportunity to participate in his annual event.
