San Diego finished the 2001 and 2002 regular season in third place in the West Coast Conference with a league record of 10-4. The Toreros have not experienced a losing season in conference play since 1990 and have com– piled a WCC record of 103-37 since 1992. The Toreros, who won back-to– back WCC Championships in 1997-98, have not finished any lower than fourth in the conference since 1989. In 2001 and 2002 the Toreros swept Gonzaga, Portland, St. Mary's and San Francisco and LMU. San Diego was defeated twice by both Pepperdine and Santa Clara last season.
