Jennifer Petrie is in her fifth year as the Toreros head coach. During four seasons under Petrie's guidance San Diego has won nearly 70 percent of their matches and have totaled an outstanding record of 84-37. Ranked 25 th nationally in the fi– nal regular season 2002 American Volleyball Coaches Asso– ciation Poll and 25 th in the final 2001 poll, Petrie has estab– lished San Diego as one of the premiere volleyball programs in the nation. Last season Petrie guided the Toreros into the NCAA Tourna– ment for the third time in her four-year tenure as USD's head coach. Over the past two seasons Petrie owns a 47-17 record and a 20-8 mark in the highly competitive West Coast Confer– ence. In 1999, her inaugural season as San Diego's head coach, the Toreros enjoyed immediate success finishing 23-6 and ad– vancing into the NCAA's round of 48. The 2003 season is Petrie's seventh at the University of San Diego after serving as USD's top assistant in 1997 and 1998. As an assistant, Petrie helped the Toreros claim back-to-back West Coast Conference Championships. After taking over the pro– gram in 1999, Petrie became just the third head coach in USD volleyball history. Petrie was a standout volleyball player at the College of Wil– liam and Mary. She was twice named Colonial Athletic Con– ference Player of the Year (1990-91) and a two-time All-South– ern Region selection (1990-91) . She gained national level play– ing experience in 1990 when she competed on the gold-medal– winning U.S. Olympic Festival North Region Team. Her collegiate coaching career began when she joined the volleyball staff at Indiana State University where she served as top assistant from 1992 to 1993. Petrie then took the top assistant position at North Carolina, Chapel Hill from 1994 to 1997 before joining Sue Snyder's staff at the University of San Diego for the 1997 campaign. A native of San Diego, Petrie played for the San Diego Juniors Volleyball Club and graduated from Mt. Carmel High School. In 1992, she graduated from the College of William and Mary with a degree in Art History and completed her Master's De– gree in Sports Administration at North Carolina, Chapel Hill in 1997.

Petrie has led San Diego to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances and has won nearly 70% of her matches as San Diego's head coach.

Jennifer is married to Mark Petrie. The couple are proud parents of newborn daughter Jane Frances.
