Family Handbook 2019-20

● Avoid chatting with other teachers or supervisors. Children can very quickly move out of sight while you are distracted. A lost child is always at risk. ● A friendly but firm approach will enable you to establish a good rapport with students while ensuring that safety rules are followed. Do not be afraid to say “no.” You are in charge. ● Adhere closely to the itinerary and make sure that you are back at the bus a few minutes before the scheduled departure time. ● Should a student become separated from her group, please ask another adult to locate the teacher at once. Do not send children to look for the missing student. Junior School Co-Curricular Information Our co-curricular activities are designed to meet the varied interests of our students. As such, we have a wide range of clubs and activities that enrich the Havergal program. These activities offer students a chance to develop new interests and share their passions with others. Students often enjoy the cross-grade interactions that are part of co-curricular clubs and activities, as well as the unique interaction with faculty and staff who keenly support these student-focused activities. Participation in clubs is optional. Girls in the Junior School who decide to participate are permitted to join ONE club per term . Girls will also be able to continue to participate in Choir, Band, Strings and the Chess Club. It is the responsibility of the student / parent to advise the office when dropping out of a club.

There is an additional fee to participate in clubs. This will be charged to each student’s account.

Please note that registration for Athletics is separate from registration for clubs . This includes: Squads, Squad Teams and Havergal teams. Before registering for a club, consider opportunities for athletic involvement as well as commitments outside the school to avoid conflicts in schedules.

Please note that, on occasion, the day of a club may need to change; however, efforts are made to hold the schedules as published.
