5 Region Rewards Loyal Members

9 Region Hosts Officers from Luxembourg

The Herts and Essex Observer newspaper reports that two officers from Luxembourg, Yann Wagner and Shayan Mehrafza, have spent a week in Hertfordshire as part of a project run by 9 Region. The trip was arranged so that these officers could learn about policing in the county.

At the 5 Region AGM held at Grantham on Sunday, 17 March, 2013, members were presented with Loyalty Certificates, that were awarded to mark continuous membership ranging from 20 to 40 years, by Vice Chair Andre Bak, Nottinghamshire branch. Carol Markham, Secretary of West Mercia branch, took the photographs. The members receiving awards were: Norman Banfield, Bob Smith, Nick Smith, Bob Lea, Bill Tapp, Bob Gunnell, Lyn Attwood, Sean Murphy, Cliff Bryan and Mervyn Lewis. IPA 9 Region Secretary, Mark Bullen, who accompanied the duo on their visit, said: “We think these visits are very valuable. IPA Member Elected as Cheshire’s Police & Crime Commissioner

IPA member John Dwyer has been elected as Cheshire's first Police & Crime Commissioner. His role is to hold the Chief Constable to account on behalf of the public. He sets the police budget and council tax and determines the policing objectives. John has been an IPA member for over 40 years (since 1972). He was Chairman of the Nottinghamshire Branch from 1977-1985 and Regional Chairman for the Midlands Region from 1986 - 1994. John rose to the rank of Assistant Chief Constable whilst serving as a police officer. John said, “The IPA was invaluable for me during my career. I had the opportunity to learn from the experiences of colleagues abroad and I made a network of close contacts across the world, some of whom
