Celebrated travel writer and editor Don George edits the GeoEx blog, Wanderlust: Literary Journeys for the Discerning Traveler , and leads trips for GeoEx. Don is the author of the award-winning anthology The Way of Wanderlust: The Best Travel Writing of Don George ; the best- selling travel writing guide in the world, How to Be a Travel Writer ; and Wanderlust in the Time of Coronavirus: Dispatches from a Year of Traveling Close to Home . He is also the editor of ten acclaimed literary anthologies, including A Moveable Feast , The Kindness of Strangers , and An Innocent Abroad . In a career spanning four decades, Don has been Travel Editor at the San Francisco Examiner-Chronicle , founder and editor of Salon ’s Wanderlust travel site, and Global Travel Editor for Lonely Planet. In addition to his work with GeoEx, Don is currently Editor at Large for National Geographic Travel, where he has been contributing columns, book reviews, and feature stories since 2007. Don is co-founder and chairman of the annual Book Passage Travel Writers & Photographers Conference, now in its 31st year. He has taught and spoken at conferences, campuses, and corporations around the world, including the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism, the San Jose State University MFA Program in Creative Writing, National Geographic Live, the New York Times Travel Show, the Ubud Writers & Readers Festival, the Melbourne Writers Festival, and Google. He also teaches writing workshops online, and leads travel writing workshops every summer in Paris.
