Thank You Chebeague Fire and Rescue! We are grateful to Chebeague Fire and Rescue for their speedy response when our commercial dishwasher sparked a fire in the wee hours of the morning on September 3! Just a week earlier Ralph Munroe conducted annual Fire and Safety training for Commons staff. CRMA Sherry Ballou, on duty overnight, followed the guidelines to a tee, safely evacuating all our residents and then grabbing a fire extinguisher to douse the flames before the fire had a chance to spread. Kudos to Ralph for the great training, and to Sherry for her perfect response the night of the fire! The manufacturer sent us a replacement unit, which Jon Rich and Stephen Todd installed, so we are back to normal in the kitchen. Many, many thanks to all for saving the day! From the Island Commons Board and all the staff A Heartfelt Thank You Falling down the stairs at 3:00 a.m. is pretty terrifying. To all the volunteers who came to my rescue—a heartfelt thank you. Fortunately, no broken bones. We are so lucky to have this great rescue team and caring community. With gratitude, Molly O’Donnell Notes from the Chebeague Parents’ Association A hundred years from now it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove. But the world may be different, because I was important in the life of a [child]. —Forest E.
