Academics USO enro lls more than 6,400 students who have a choice of more than 50 undergraduate and graduate degree programs. The Un iver– sity incl udes the College of Arts and Sciences, and the Schools of Business Administration, Education, Law and Nursing. Class size gen– erally averages between 10-30 studen ts with the student to teacher ratio being 18: 1. Over 96 percent of USD's full-time faculty hold doc– torates.
Student life Student acti vities inclu de cultural events, dances, boat crui ses, beach parti es, BBQ's, concerts, comedy nights, symposia and much more. Students participate in a w ide range of volunteer projects such as adult literacy tutor– ing, senior citizen outreach, and house buil d– ing in Tijuana. Over two-thirds of the USO community partakes in intramural sports. The Campus The USO campus is one of the most architecturally unique insti tutions found in the country, featuring 18 major buildings designed in an ornamental 16th century Span– ish Renaissance style. In the last decade USO has completed eight major construction and expansion projects. In 1990, the renovated Katherine M. and George M . Pardee Jr. Legal Research Center opened, a facility double the size of the former law libarary that offers the lastest in information technology. Athletics San Diego is a member of the West Coast Conference and competes in 16 inter– collegiate sports on the NCAA Division I level. Men's sports include: basketball, baseball, crew, cross country, golf, football , soccer and tennis. Women sports include: basketball, crew, cross country, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis and volleyball. In the past three seasons alone, six USO teams have advanced to NCAA Tournaments. In 1993, USD's gridiron squad became a charter member of the 1-AA Pioneer Football League.
