Toreros reach semifinals of NIVe ... 2nd Place finish in wee Best Ever!

The 1994 University of San Diego women's volleyball squad, with a school– record 25 wins, capped off their season by reaching the semi-finals of the National

Invitational Volleyball Championship (NIVC), held in Kansas City, Missouri. The Toreros won their round-robin pool (4-0), advancing to the semis, where they were defeated by eventual cham– pion , San Jose State University in five games. Coach Sue Snyder's club won 12 of 13 games enroute to a 4-0 record in pool play. In the semis, USO nearly rallied from two games down, falling short in an accelerated fifth game.

teamwork and integrity. Senior OH Jennifer Wrightson and senior setter Amy Boyer were named to the NIVC all-tournament team. Wrightson was also named the WCC Player of the Year and First Team AVCA All-West Region. Senior Amy McMahon, an AVCA All-West Region 2nd Team selection and 1st Team AII-WCC selection, was also USD's NCAA Woman of the Year. Torero Notebook San Diego tied the school record for wins in a season (25), set in 1976 when USO went 25-9.. .the Toreros established team season records for matches played (35), attack percentage (.266), kills (1,931), attack attempts (4,802), assists (1 ,679) and block assists (506) ... individually, Jennifer Wrlghtson broke single season records for kills (484), digs (350) and attempts (1, 152)...senior MB Amy McMahon recorded a school-record .354 at– tack percentage last season and became the fourth USO player to notch 1,000 career kills...McMahon's 433 career block assists set new marks in USO and WCC annals...senior OH Jennifer Lofftus finished her career with 1,156 digs and 3,360 attack at– tempts, both USO records ...all told, USO set 16 individual and team marks in 1994.
