and Svetlana Gitman); and the staff and members of the CBA Record (including Justice Michael B. Hyman, David Beam, Nick Standiford, Natalie Chan, and Dan Berkowitz), without whose constant sup- port this banner year for the YLS would not have been possible. Thanks also to past YLS chairs Katie Liss, Matt Passen, Paul Ochmanek, Mary Curry, Dan Cotter, Aurora Austriaco, and JimWilson, among others, who lent their advice and support to our many efforts. My thanks to all our outstanding com- mittee chairs and vice-chairs, but perhaps especially to the YLS Social Committee leaders Octavio Duran, Jenna Stupar, Shelley Sandoval, and Michelle Cass, who worked to bring us closer together in fun settings throughout the city. Thanks are likewise owed to Carl Newman, Jeff Mos- kowitz, Tracy Brammeier, Chastidy Burns, and Tyler Sill for all they did to make our Disco Night CBF fundraiser a smashing success. And, of course, thanks to our many generous sponsors, of which there were over 30 from the legal and business community this year. Thanks too to Sandi Tanoue and Rachel Arfa for their work on further developing the Access Success pro- gram, a live online CLE and networking program aimed at creating opportunities for attorneys and law students with dis- abilities. More thanks to Jeff Moskowitz, Tracy Brammeier, Katie Liss, TimTomasik, Dean Michael Kaufman, Dean Vikram Amar, Dean Greg Miarecki, Judge Tom Durkin, Michele Jochner, and the many others who helped to bring the benefits of the YLS to law students and new lawyers throughout the region. Speaking of judges, additional thanks to Justices Cynthia Cobbs, Michael B. Hyman, and Jesse Reyes, to Judges Patricia Spratt, Elizabeth Budzinski, and Patricia O’Brien Sheehan, among others, who spoke at various YLS events through- out the year, and to judges Jorge Alonso, Mary K. Rochford, Sheila Finnegan, and David Weisman for their participation in our annual moot court competition. As many of you know, perhaps the

My Thanks to All By Jonathan B. Amarilio YLS Chair S irWinston Churchill reportedly said that “you make a living by what you get; you make a life by what you give.” While the attribution of that quote is arguable, I would suggest that the truth behind it is not. Over the course of the last year, YLS members have given so much of ourselves to our work, to each other, and to our community. We did so for myriad rea- sons; to advance our careers, yes, but also to help our clients and friends, to support our families, and to better the world around us. It would be a mighty exercise to attempt to estimate the number of hours we have col- lectively devoted to these efforts, especially those directed toward the YLS—they are, perhaps, beyond a reasonable accounting. But in this, my final column as YLS Chair, I want to take a moment to thank you for all that you have done for the YLS and each other this year. Starting at the top, my thanks to the CBA’s leadership, including: CBA President Judge Tom Mulroy, First Vice President Steve Elrod, Second Vice Presi- dent Jesse Ruiz, Secretary Lynn Grayson, Treasurer Maurice Grant, and Immediate Past President Dan Kotin; the entire CBA “Big Board”; all the Officers and Directors of the YLS (including Brandon Peck, Octa- vio Duran, JeffMoskowitz, Carl Newman, Alexis Crawford Douglas, Emily Roscheck,
