YLS Chair Jonathan Amarilio kicked-off Law Week with an appearance on WGN/CLTV's Politics Tonight during Law Week. Amarilio spoke with host Paul Lisnek about the importance of defending the judiciary and rule of law, as well as all the great work the Chicago Bar Association and its Young Lawyer Section does for the greater Chicago community.

project most near and dear to me this year was the launch of the CBA’s new podcast @theBar (available on Apple Podcasts, iTunes, Google Play, Stitcher or wherever the finest podcasts may be found). And so my thanks to our sponsors and my co-hosts (thus far) Nykoel Kahn, Jack Sanker, Jennifer Byrne, Sally Pissetsky Steele, Carl Newman, Mghnon Martin, and Catherine Sanders Reach, as well as our sound crew, Ricardo Islas and Steve Weirich, without whose efforts we would just be talking to ourselves in the corner of a small room. Thanks to the team at the Legal Talk Network, Adam Camras, Laurence Colletti, Adam Lockwood, and Kelsey Johnson, who help beam out our pod to the world (we have hundreds of listeners in Australia, Canada, China, the U.K., and Luxembourg, among many other countries… I don’t get it either). And, of course, thanks to our guests (thus far), including Judge Richard Posner (Ret.), Representative Greg Harris, Brian Cuban, Kimberly Cook, Miles Beerman, Max Kapustin, AmyThompson, Dennis Garcia,

Conor Malloy, Joel Cohen, Ajit Singh, and Travis Lenkner. Perhaps most importantly, I want to thank the CBA staff, whose inestimable efforts are as invaluable as they are too often taken for granted. The list is long, but worthy, and includes CBA Executive Director Terry Murphy, Assistant Execu- tive Director Beth McMeen, Director of Marketing Sharon Nolan, Manager of Advertising and Sponsorship Rebecca Martin, and many, many more. And my most heartfelt thanks to YLS Director Jennifer Byrne. It is no exaggeration to say that Jen is the hub of the YLS. Her tireless attention and dedication gives life to ideas that would otherwise never sprout, much less bear fruit. Thanks too to Bob Glaves and all of his outstanding staff at the CBF, nobly working every day to make our com- munity a better, more just place to live. A special thanks to my law firm, Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP, including J. Timothy Eaton, Paul Jenson, Susan Kilkenny, Maria Porter, Beth O’Mahoney, Patricia Braun and Brunetta Bishop,

among others, whose support this year was instrumental. And finally, a special thanks to two persons: J. Timothy Eaton, without whose mentorship I never would have become YLS Chair, and Bridget Eastman, whose never-ending patience allowed me to run late to a shocking number of post-CBA/ YLS event dinner dates without a word of complaint. There are so many of you to thank for all you have done this year. For those not expressly named, please understand that this was a function of space, not ingratitude. If Churchill was right, and our lives are measured by what we give, then I step down as Chair with a happy heart, knowing firsthand how exemplary your lives truly are. Thank you for all you have done for the YLS this year. And thank you for allowing me to serve you and the organization.
