Because of the curtain wall made of metal sheets, which form a sophisticated pattern, a creasy and somehow dispersing mass lays dis- tressed over the transparent space. The build- ing being perceived dynamically, the facade, albeit decorative and interrupted by vertical streams of glass, produces an intriguing feel- ing of constant change. All in all the building makes an impres- sion of a well-designed game: be it its simple shape, or a meticulous approach to materials or the concept of the site; the spatial layout is well thought out, attention has been paid to arrangement, and even the shape does not follow Mayne’s classical technogenesis-and- landfill manner, there are no zealous efforts

of self-representation. This is probably the wis- est project in the whole career of the architect; although romantic utopianism still manifests itself in his work, it has been brought closer in line with reality and acquired structure. При динамическом восприятии постройки фасад дает ин- тересное ощущение постоянного изменения, несколько, правда, деко- ративного, прерываемого вертикальными стеклянными «ручьями». В целом, здание оставляет ощущения хорошо продуманной игры: простая форма, детальный подход к материалам, концепция на месте, объемно-пространственное решение тоже в порядке, планировочные задачи не оставлены без внимания, даже форма решена не в класси- ческой для Мэйна техногенно-мусорной манере, здесь нет особого фа- натизма в саморепрезентации. Это, похоже, самый мудрый проект за всю практику архитектора, хотя в работе по-прежнему виден романти- ческий утопизм, он приблизился к жизни, приобретя структуру.
