USD COACHING STAFF TonydaLuz Head Coach (5th season)

Head Coach Tony da Luz begins his fifth season as head women's soccer coach at the University of San Diego. Since his hiring on Nov. 7, 1992, da Luz has been in charge of building the newest sport at USO from the ground up. Last season the Toreros barely missed the NCAA playoffs after recording a 10-6-1 record and finishing third in the West Coast Conference. In 1994 da Luz guided the team to eight victories for the second straight year, including a 3-2 upset of#13 St. Mary's College along the way. In 1993 USD won seven of its last eight games to finish 8-8 overall and tied for third in the West Coast Conference. Among the Toreros' '93 victories was a 1-0 upset over No. 20 Washington to take third place at the Umbra Invitational. da Luz has been a familiar sight on the USO sidelines since his days as a player and assistant coach on the men's team. A former USO team MVP and WCC honorable mention selection, da Luz broke into coaching as chief assistant coach to Seamus McFadden prior to the 1984 season. In his seven years on McFadden's staff, daLuz helped USO to five straight winning seasons. Tony and wife, Amy, have two sons, Austin and Tyler. They reside in Del Mar. Jodi Coffman Assistant Coach (2nd season) UC Santa Barbara, 1992 Jodi enters her second season with the USO women's soccer program as an assistant coach. She is currently working toward her doctorate in Educa– tional Leadership here at USO. Coffman earned her Masters in Sport Psy– chology from San Diego State last year. She played three years of soccer at UC Santa Barbara where she graduated in 1992. She also has played on the San Diego Lady Top Guns. Her vast coaching experience includes stints as a Professional Soccer Coach (PQYSA, Rancho Penasquitos); and as a Var– sity Soccer Coach (Santa Fe Christian HS). She has been the coordinator of the Del Mar Recreational Soccer League as well.
